sunspear grind
I need to get about 800 points for the next story mission. But how? I have no quests left that give me points.
I gotta say, the PvE section is pretty turgid after a while. The online community is on balance pretty unhelpful and disinterested in grouping. Using the heroes/ henchmen just turns combat into a mess. There's no point in adopting any strategy either since the best thing is to go en masse target after target. I have to say I'm getting very bored of being dragged halfway across the map killing the same mass of mobs every time just to be told to go to another point and so on. The Fools Luck mission is a perfect example; it is simpley the worst mission I've ever played. It is boring, tedious and exceptionally long winded. I am finding precious little incentive to continue pve in NF other than getting stuff for pvp. |

I'm sure if you wander around and look at the different NPC's, you'll find more quests you can do while killing the mobs you have bounties for. Really though, 800 points isn't that difficult to get.

7 points per kill, 115 kills. Doesn't seem so tough.

It's all actually just the penalty for not having taken on bounties from the start. If you do that, you barely ever have to go out specifically to earn points.

Sadly its a cheap and easy way of extending the playtime of a game. GW compared to other games is very good and not forcing you to grind. It still is present however and wont be going away anytime soon. But you wont find less in any other MMO tbh. Its something you just have to grit your teeth and get it over with. Thankfully due to the bounties it doesnt take that long, just try not to let it ruin the rest of the game for you.

If you're actually having difficulty gaining Sunspear points anywhere outside of Istan (assuming NM) then there is something seriously wrong.
Given that I can take a few bounties and go on a random killing spree just while running between outposts to unlock them on the M-map... and end up with Sunspear Rank 6 before I even notice the progression..... it isn't that much of a grind. If you want to start complaining about it being a grind, wait until you reach Rank 8 on your way to Rank 9 and have to do it all in Hard Mode with Judundu. THAT is a grind. |

I think the problem is the heroes and the henchmen, they take a lot out of combat. All you have is a large mob of characters who wade in with you. It detracts from stealth, strategy and planning. There is very little control you can realistically exert over them and half the time even promoting them to do things like rez you is fruitless. That plus the fact that most of the groups of mobs outnumber you so taking a considered approach to formation (ie sticking healers at the back) just doesn't work beause the mobs run around them or move about so much anyway. It tries a formation approach in an environment that disregards it. It's nt like Total War where you can hold the line with large armies. It's a shame because it's a nice idea, but it doesn't really work.
It also means that I can't maximise the effectveness of my skills since I don't fight alone or even with a team of prepared players, as per PVP. |

This is what happens when people don't do bounties along the way. If you had done while doing quests you'd have plenty now... i have almost 5000+ point in no time at all without even trying.

If you want to see real grind, go play Silkroad Online, WoW, runescape, or any other MMO.

I have a little over 15,000 sunspear points on my main character now. How do you think I feel? Getting up to 800 is nothing really. Explore the world, look at the scenery

Take some time and learn how to use the heroes and henchmen. I find they are better than most PUGs. The problem is that they are no better than the person using them. It sounds like you are still on the starter island. If you are having serious problems there you will find it extremely difficult once you reach the mainland. Maybe, find a nice guild that is willing to help newer players. And you won't find much sympathy here on the forums, especially if you try to shoot down people who are trying to offer solutions to your problems.
